Kieran Way

I am a first-year PhD student in the Department of Anthropology. I have done ethnographic research on the Thunder Bay Public Library’s commitment to anti-racism, decolonization and hospitality. For my doctoral research, I will be working with other public institutions in the city. I am particularly interested in what constitutes a relation of solidarity for my interlocutors, and how different spaces enable or disable their articulation.

I am happy to be be assisting with coordination of University Worlds. My research for the project will contribute to understanding U of T as an ethical actor. I will examine U of T’s role as employer, especially the concrete actions it has taken in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action.
