Equity and online learning results

Abstract

This memo outlines key findings from the survey on the University of Toronto’s (UofT) recent shift to online learning in March, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although our study has a number of limitations, the results suggest that this emergency move to online learning was experienced unevenly by faculty and students and that in many (but not all) instances the shift has been disproportionately detrimental to equity seeking groups (as has been the case with the spread of COVID-19 itself).
