Alissa Trotz

I am Professor of Caribbean Studies and Director of Women and Gender Studies at the University of Toronto. My research and teaching draw on the Caribbean and foreground neoliberalisation, social reproduction, labour flexibilization, transnational migration, diaspora, and extractivism. I also edit a weekly column in a Caribbean daily, which regularly features student research.

My contribution to University Worlds concerns histories and practices of campus community activism. I am especially interested in exploring the conditions of possibility of the Transitional Year Program, paying particular attention to the labour of Black students, parents and community activists.
